So you want to know who Mike the Apeman is.  I have no idea who would even bother clicking here, let alone come to this page, but okay.  I'll try to give you some background on myself by copying the description from the page from my podcast, www.theapemancometh.com.

Mike the Apeman was born a poor, black child in the heart of New Jersey in 1974.  After being mistaken for a pile of poo, he was wisked away and found himself being raised by primates in the jungles of Africa.  Getting a rough start like that makes it only fitting that he would grow up into a very vocal person with a lot of anger.  Ranting about anything and everything wrong with the world and with people became his favorite pastime.  This eventually brought him in contact with the owner of No Holds Barred Radio, where he did a stint as a "permanent guest" for about 18 months.  Tired of the man keeping him down there, oppressing the anger instead of harnessing it, the time came for Our Hero to start doing things his way, and speaking about the world in a way that only he could.  Thus, The Apeman Cometh was born.

Okay, so that's mostly a big joke.  Yes, I was born in 1974.  Yes, I was born in New Jersey.  I have never been to Africa.  Closest to that I've been is Disney's Animal Kingdom.  So what else would you want to know?  I've been playing hockey since 1987, starting out just playing floor hockey in middle school.  Eventually I wound up moving to ice hockey as a goalie for the Cranford Hockey Club.  I played a year of Bantam A, and was moved up early to finish playing 3 years as the starting goalie for the Midget A team.  In my final year, I helped backstop the team to a 3rd place finish in the then New Jersey Youth Hockey League (now USA Hockey).  Why only 3rd?  Well, let's just say the other goalie was the manager's son and got a few key starts where he really should have.  That was a good lesson in life, as it taught me what politics were all about.  I still play hockey today, after playing in a few different roller hockey leagues, winning championships in South Amboy and Rahway before figuring out that I missed the smell of the ice.  Now I play in beer leagues and pickup ice, and I've been involved with product testing for some smaller companies trying to get into the market.

I'm also a big movie buff, and have seen easily (at last count) over 2,000 movies in my lifetime.  If you visit my NetFlix Queue and see the movies I've rated, that count is up to about 1,750, and there's at least 250 movies I've seen that have never been released on DVD.  Sad part is that a lot of the movies that I like the most are movies that people hate.  I tend to laugh at stupid humor, and I'm man enough to admit I cried at the end of Beaches.  (Anyone who can't admit that is a liar and they fuckin know it.)  It's very rare that I say a movie is so bad that I'd never watch it again, and now I'm starting to expand my viewing to indie flicks and imports.  (ex.: Ichi the Killer, reviewed in one of my podcasts)

I also am a big technology geek, since I work in telecommunications and have an engineering degree, I guess it's logical.  I've built computers on my own, I've set up networks, yet oddly enough it took me forever to figure out how to create a frame in HTML.  But I'm also a gadget freak, which is scary...and can be expensive.  I've figured out how to build a custom exhaust system for my home theater cabinet, albeit a little late to save some damage, but it works well.  I've got all kinds of gadgets, some good, some bad, and am always on the look out for good deals on new stuff.  I guess all this has helped me become geeky enough to figure out how to fix a leaky toilet and leaky baseboard heating in my house, so everything has a purpose.

Ya know, I'm never comfortable talking about myself, so if there's anything that you readers want to know, send me an email at miketheapeman AT gmail DOT com and I'll post your question with an answer here.
